"The second case of infection with a subvariant of the Kraken coronavirus has been identified in Russia. The patient carries the infection in a mild form", - the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported.

The department added that this sub-variant has features that allow you to more effectively evade the immune defense of the body. Its active distribution in Rospotrebnadzor is seen as unlikely.

According to TASS, the press service of the department told reporters that the materials for sequencing were obtained from the Republic of Tyva.

On January 12, Rospotrebnadzor announced the first case in Russia of infection with a variety of the omicron strain Kraken. It was reported that the disease was detected in the Penza region.
