A new earthquake of magnitude 5.6 has occurred in Turkey

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported a new earthquake in Turkey - the epicenter was located at a depth of 2 km, 57 km from Adiyaman, where 223 thousand people live, and 5 km from the city of Gelbashi, where 28 thousand people live.

This tremor became one of the strongest since the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on February 6, which killed 4.3 thousand people, injured about 20 thousand more.

On Tuesday night, more than a hundred Russian rescuers arrived in Turkey to provide assistance. In addition, the Russian military in Syria continues to help in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared national mourning until February 12 inclusive.

It should be noted that hotlines have been opened for Russian tourists who are currently in Turkey, which can be called if they encounter problems due to an earthquake. This applies to tourists who arrived in the country on a voucher, as well as to independent travelers.
