More than four thousand people became victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Rescuers continue to dismantle the rubble of thousands of buildings, finding new victims under them.

According to the Anadolu agency, as a result of the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria, about 4.3 thousand people were killed. According to the latest updated data from the Turkish side, 2,921 people were killed in the country, 15,834 people were injured, the Syrian government reported 711 victims and 1,431 injured, 733 people were killed in territories not controlled by Damascus, and over 2,1 thousand were injured.

On Tuesday night, more than a hundred Russian rescuers arrived in Turkey to provide assistance. Also, the Russian military in Syria continues to help eliminate the consequences of a deadly natural phenomenon. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared national mourning until February 12 inclusive.

On the morning of February 7, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported a new earthquake in Turkey. Its epicenter was located at a depth of 2 km, 57 km from Adiyaman, where 223 thousand people live, as well as 5 km from Gelbashi with a population of 28 thousand people.
