Russia to send 11 doctors to help victims in Turkey

The Ministry of Health will send a team of 11 doctors to Turkey to help people injured during the earthquake.

This was told by the Assistant Minister of Health Alexey Kuznetsov.

"On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a team of doctors will be sent to Turkey today to provide medical assistance to victims of the earthquake", - RIA Novosti writes with reference to the official's statement.

The team is staffed with traumatologists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, resuscitators and pediatric surgeons who work in leading state medical centers.

As a result of a series of devastating earthquakes that took place in Turkey on February 6-7, 6,000 buildings collapsed. More than 7,100 people were killed under the rubble of destroyed houses and more than 40,000 were injured. Among the dead and injured are citizens of the Russian Federation, including children.

Rescue work continues. More than 60 thousand rescuers are currently involved in the analysis of the rubble, with heavy equipment and helicopters at their disposal.

Russia has offered to send 100 rescuers and two IL-76 aircraft to help Turkey. The collection of humanitarian aid for earthquake victims has begun around the world.
