Macron threatened to deprive Putin of the Legion of Honor

French President Emmanuel Macron (pictured right) has admitted the possibility of depriving Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of the title of Knight Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor - the highest rank of the Legion of Honor. It was presented to Putin in September 2006 by President Jacques Chirac.

"I don't rule out anything..., but today I don't have such a decision. (Such decisions) are filled with many meanings, and I think we should choose the right moment to make them", - Macron said on the night of February 10 after the end of the EU summit in Brussels.

Vladimir Putin remains the only Russian to be awarded this order.

The day before, Macron awarded Zelensky with such an order.

"A tribute to Ukraine and its people. A tribute to you, dear Vladimir, for your courage and determination", - Macron said.
