Slovakia promised Ukraine MiG-29 fighters

During the EU summit on February 9 in Brussels, Zelensky asked Heger about the delivery of the MiG-29. To which he replied that he would do "everything possible to fulfill this request".

According to Teraz, at a personal meeting Zelensky told Heger that he expects "the strengthening of the Russian offensive in the coming weeks."

- He (Zelensky) contacted us about the MiG-29. I told him that we will negotiate about this internally, and the public will be informed about the results of these negotiations," the Slovak Prime Minister said.

These deliveries will need to be discussed at the level of the European Union, and the politician did not name specific dates for the possible delivery of these fighters. At the same time, he assured that the authorities are interested "in the speedy conclusion of negotiations" on this issue.

Kiev demands 180 fighters from the West. American leader Joe Biden has already refused to provide his own F-16s, since he does not want to deprive the United States Army of these weapons. At the same time, French leader Emmanuel Macron allowed Paris to transfer fighters to Kiev.

It should be noted that if a whole "leopard" coalition appeared in Europe when discussing the transfer of tanks to Ukraine, then European leaders are not so active in the issue of fighters. Even Poland, which actively supports the Kiev regime, announced that it would send these weapons to Lil in coordination with the North Atlantic Alliance. Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister, separately stressed that his country would not be the first to start such deliveries. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who was also against sending Leopard, said that NATO should not be drawn into a war with Russia, therefore it is necessary to continue dialogue with President Vladimir Putin, and also opposed Kiev receiving from Germany not only fighter jets, but also submarines and long-range missiles.
