Russian divers were invited to participate in the Asian Games and the World Youth Championship. This was announced by the President of the Russian Federation in diving Stanislav Druzhinin.

"We received an offer from the Asian Swimming Federation to compete in the Asian Games, at the World Youth Championship", - he said in an interview with Interfax.

The XIX Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Earlier, the Olympic Council of Asia invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions. There are 40 sports represented at the Asian Games, including diving. Unlike the Olympics, the Asian Games also feature competitions in board games — bridge, go, chess and the Chinese game Xiangqi (an analogue of chess). Dragon boat races are held at the Asian Games. This year, the championship will also host tournaments on PUBG, FIFA and Dota 2 and League of Legends, Sport Express reports.

Earlier, Olympic diving champion Ilya Zakharov told what Russian divers lack in order to compete with the Chinese in this sport. According to him, the number of athletes involved in this sport, and the attitude of the athletes themselves to this sport, affects the "Soviet Sport".

It's worth reminding that in February last year, the International Olympic Committee recommended that federations suspend Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions. The recommendations were released after the start of the special operation on Ukraine.
