The Ministry of Agriculture indicated that a similar mechanism of blocking in the alcohol market has demonstrated effectiveness.

The Ministry of Agriculture has developed amendments to the law on information, which provide for blocking websites with offers of tobacco and nicotine-containing products (nicotine delivery devices, electronic cigarettes, vapes, smoking liquids, mixtures, etc.) without court decisions. As RBC writes, referring to a source in the tobacco market and representatives of the department, we are talking about amendments the laws "On the protection of citizens' health from the effects of ambient tobacco smoke and the consequences of tobacco consumption" and "On the basic guarantees of the rights of the child in Russia".

The Ministry at the beginning of the month wrote and sent a letter to the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The document says that similar anti-alcohol measures were effective in "suppressing and preventing trade through marketplaces." Last year, 6430 portals containing offers for the sale of alcoholic beverages were blocked in the country. Similar measures will help to comply with the ban on the sale of nicotine-containing products. The ministry added that it is also necessary to work out the issue of blocking individual Internet pages of suppliers who do not comply with the restriction.

In early February, it became known that Wildberries was going to introduce a ban on the sale of vapes. In addition, it was decided not to sell nicotine-free smoking devices, nicotine-free mixtures and liquids anymore. The decision was made against the background of discussions on the need to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes in the country. The measures will be introduced gradually so that those engaged in the trade of these goods have time to reorient the business.
