The Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, said that the specialists of the Bank of Russia do not see technological risks in using Telegram channels as a means of communication between Russian banks and customers.

According to Naibullina, it is enough to use anti-fraud mechanisms to reduce risks.

"As for the provision of services through Telegram channels by banks, our experts analyzed that there are no additional technological risks from the use of such channels", - TASS quotes the head of the Central Bank.

At the same time, Nabiullina admitted that "Telegram channels are often used as a means of communication by scammers."

The transition of banks to communicate with customers via Telegram became a forced measure after blocking their applications in the AppStore and Google Play as a result of the introduction of Western sanctions against the Russian banking sector. The scammers were not slow to cash in on this.

According to VTB, over the past year, the number of scammers in messengers has increased fivefold, Kommersant writes.

At the beginning of this year, Roskomnadzor banned banks from using Telegram to send important information to customers, pointing out that Telegram is a foreign resource, the use of which in banking is unsafe.
