The Russian side denounced the intergovernmental agreement with the Czech Republic of 2001 on the establishment of the country's consulate General in Yekaterinburg. The government instructed the Russian The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall notify the Czech side of the decision taken.
In June last year, the authorities decided not to issue visas and temporary residence permits to citizens of Russia and Belarus until the end of March 2023. Before that, in February, after the start of the Russian special operation, the Government of the Republic closed the consulates of Russia in Karlovy Vary and Brno and stopped the work of consular offices in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
