The grain was supposed to be used further in third countries according to fictitious documents.

The Financial Monitoring Agency of Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti writes, discovered a scheme of gray grain imports from the Russian Federation for further export using forged documents.

"The scheme of gray import of Russian grain for the purpose of further export to third countries through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan was revealed by the AFM Department for the Pavlodar region under the coordination of the transport Prosecutor's Office of the region", - the agency said.

One of the companies in 2021-2022 sent grain from Russia in the amount of 8.3 thousand tons worth more than 1 billion tenge ($2.2 million) to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

"In order to obtain a preferential export tariff, the company used fictitious invoices of domestic farms allegedly confirming the Kazakh origin of grain, which allowed it to evade the transit tariff and cause damage to KTZ Cargo Transportation LLP in the amount of almost 150 million tenge ($333 thousand)", - the AFM clarified.

A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.

It's worth reminding that in early February, a Romanian barge with wheat on board sank in the port of Reni in the Odessa region. At the end of 2022, the first vessel under the Grain from Ukraine program docked in the port of Ethiopia with 25 tons of wheat on board.
