Biden said Russia should not succeed in Ukraine

"We spent a lot of money to help Ukrainians. But this is much more than about Ukrainians, it's about NATO, about Western Europe. It's about ensuring that Putin can't succeed", - Biden said.

The President of the United States announced that neither Washington nor Europe are seeking to destroy Russia:

"Once again I appeal to the Russian people. The United States and European countries do not seek to establish control over Russia or destroy it. The West did not plan to attack Russia. Millions of Russians who want to live in peace with their neighbors are not our enemies".

At the very beginning of his speech, he stressed that the Russian special operation has become a test for the United States, the EU and NATO, but the bloc is as united as ever, contrary to the expectations of the Russian president.

Also at the beginning of the speech, Biden said that "Kiev has stood up":

"A year ago, the world was preparing for the fall of Kiev. Well, I have just arrived from Kiev and I can inform you that this did not happen. Free Kiev has not fallen".

Recall that Biden's visit to Kiev lasted only a few hours.
