Recall that in June last year, the President of South Ossetia visited Moscow for consultations on holding a referendum on the republic's accession to Russia. The decree on holding a referendum at the end of his presidential term was signed by President Anatoly Bibilov. Alan Gagloev, who replaced him in this post, said earlier that it was not yet time to hold a referendum on this issue. The referendum was postponed, although the president himself said that he generally supports this initiative. So far, he has instructed to hold consultations with Moscow on a full range of issues related to joining Russia.
