As a result of the tremors on February 20, about 300 people were injured.

According to the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koji, after two earthquakes that occurred the day before on the border of Turkey and Syria, about 300 people were injured in the Turkish province of Hatay, 18 of whom are assessed as serious.

"After first aid, they were transported to Adana and Dertyol by air and land", - the head of the department specified.

On February 20, tremors of magnitude 6.4 and 5.8 were recorded with a difference of 17 minutes. The Syrian authorities did not specify the number of dead and injured. According to the Syrian Human Rights Monitoring Center, at least four people were killed due to panic and stampede in the cities of Aleppo, Tartus and Hama. At least 320 people were injured in Damascus-controlled areas. Another 150 people were injured in the north-west of the country. Thus, the total number of victims in Turkey and Syria exceeded 700.

As RIA Novosti wrote, a blue flash appeared in the sky before the earthquake. A similar phenomenon was observed by local residents before the devastating tremors that occurred in the region on February 6 and claimed the lives of more than 41 thousand people.
