The World Anti-Doping Agency has filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

WADA does not agree with the decision of RUSADA, which found figure skater Kamila Valiyeva innocent of doping. RUSADA informed WADA of its decision on January 13. WADA intends to annul all the results of the athlete and disqualify her for four years, starting from the date of sampling — December 25, 2021. The International Olympic Committee supported the decision on appeal.

Earlier, WADA requested a copy of the full reasoned decision, which it will consider together with the case materials to determine whether the decision complies with the provisions of the World Anti-Doping Code.

After the victory of the Russian figure skating team in the OI team tournament in Beijing, it became known that a banned drug was found in Valiyeva's doping test, handed over at the Russian championship in December 2021. At the end of last year, it became known that Valiyeva was facing a four-year disqualification.

It should be noted that RUSADA annulled Valiyeva's result at the 2022 Russian Championship, which was victorious for her.
