In the first month of this year, the country produced medicines worth 44.5 billion rubles.

In January of this year, the pharmaceutical industry of the country produced 14.5% less medicines than in December 2022. The decrease in production by January last year was 6.2%. Rosstat reported that 1 billion doses of serums and vaccines were manufactured, which is 5.3% less than last January, and 21.1% less than last December. The output in ampoules was at the level of 502 thousand pieces, which is 18.3% less than in January 2022, and 23.3% less than in December 2022.

Compared to January 2022, the production of pharmaceutical substances fell by 2.6%, but increased by 0.7% compared to December. The production of antibiotics increased by 50.2% compared to January 2022, but decreased by 19.6% compared to December 2022, amounting to 94.8 tons.

Sales of medicines for influenza and SARS have fallen by 31% this year. Earlier it was reported about a possible shortage of these drugs, but analysts do not see the reason for their shortage. In the warehouses of manufacturers, in the wholesale and retail link, there are sufficient stocks to cover the demand of Russians for 7.5 months at average consumption rates.
