Seven people were killed in a fire at the Moscow hotel "MKM"

Two victims of the tragedy are children. The victims were poisoned by carbon monoxide.

Late in the evening on February 21 there was a fire in the hotel "MKM" - a 16-storey building on the International street. 50 people were rescued, seven of them children. The fire started on the fifth floor. People tried to escape from the fire by jumping out of windows.

The hotel occupies 49 rooms and a number of technical rooms. The rest of the premises are private apartments and a hostel. According to eyewitnesses, one of the tenants of the apartment "set things on fire in the corridor of the building where the apartments of the former dormitory are located, and a fire started".

The fire was localized on an area of 100 square meters. Five people were hospitalized, including a minor. Only two hundred people were evacuated.

Traffic was blocked near the hotel, five Mosgortrans buses arrived to heat people.

129 people and 43 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

After the fire, a criminal case was opened under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.

Later it became known that Yuri Tkachenko, the acting head of the EMERCOM of Russia in Moscow, and his driver, who were traveling to the place of the fire, had an accident on the way, both were hospitalized.
