The national boxing team of Ukraine announced that it will miss both the women's and men's World championships, since athletes from Russia will be present at them, said Oleg Ilchenko, vice president of the organization.
"Our answer is clear: our athletes and representatives of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine do not perform where representatives of Russia and Belarus will perform", - Ilchenko said.
The next women's World Cup is scheduled for March this year. It will take place in New Delhi, the men's championship will be held in Tashkent in May.
In the middle of the month, British boxers complained that they were not ready to perform in their native ring with Russians. Meanwhile, Russian boxers show excellent results. For example, The Ring presented the "Fighter of the Year-2022" award to Dmitry Bivol; on January 10, he was recognized as the boxer of the year by the American Association of Boxing Journalists (BWAA). Before that, he was recognized as the best boxer of the year by the WBA, as well as sports portals ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, Sporting News and the BBC.
