Putin allowed foreigners to serve in the Russian army on one-year contracts

Russian President Vladimir Putin has allowed foreigners to sign their first contract to serve in the Russian army for a period of one year, not five years.

This is stated in the decree of the head of state published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

One-year contracts will be available to all foreigners entering military service in In Russia, as a soldier, sailor, sergeant, foreman, Kommersant notes.

Earlier it became known that those foreigners who express a desire to serve in the Russian army under a contract will have a chance to acquire Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. Putin signed the document on this on September 24, 2022.

It is possible to obtain citizenship in a simplified manner after a year of service in the army. It is not necessary for foreigners to conclude five-year military contracts for this.
