The Russian government rejected the bill on the work of private military companies in the country, because it contradicts the Basic Law of the country - we are talking about part 5 of Article 13 on the prohibition of the activities of organizations aimed at shifting the constitutional order of Russia. The bill was sent to the government in March 2022. The answer was received "the other day". Mironov believes that the government's arguments about the inconsistency of the bill with the Constitution of Russia "do not stand up to criticism".
To point out this circumstance in relation to "those who today, without sparing their lives, protect the integrity and security of Russia" is "some kind of unprecedented cynicism" on the part of officials. Mironov added that work on the bill continues.
It should be noted that in December 2022, the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin supported the extension of the norms of laws concerning participants in hostilities to the dead fighters of private military companies. The day before, the founder of the Wagner PMCS, Yevgeny Prigozhin, publicly raised the relevant issue by writing to the chairman of the Defense Committee, Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov.
