Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law suspending Russia's participation in the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty. The document is published on the legal information portal.

The text of the explanatory note states that the Russian Federation temporarily stops its participation in the Agreement between it and the United States on Measures for Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms. The Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty was signed in April 2010 in Prague.

The law came into force from the moment of signing. The President will be able to decide on the resumption of the country's participation in the agreement.

On February 22, the State Duma approved the suspension of the country's participation in the Treaty. The day before, during his annual address to the Federal Assembly, the President announced the suspension of Russia's participation in the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty.
