Russian Leader Vladimir Putin has approved the termination of the Council of Europe treaties with respect to Russia. He signed the document on February 28, it is published on the portal of legal information.
In addition, the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, adopted in November 1950, as well as the European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism of January 1997, no longer applies to the Russian Federation.
Earlier today it became known that the President signed a law suspending the country's participation in the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty.
