According to RBC with reference to the data of the regulator, in January of this year the amount of mortgage loans issued was 2.5 times less than in December 2022, and the average rate increased by 1.21 percentage points, to 7.86%.
In total, in the first month of the year, banks in the Russian Federation issued 77.3 thousand mortgage loans. Their number was 2.2 times less than in December last year (176.2 thousand), and the amount was 2.5 times lower.
If in December, 696.9 billion rubles were provided to borrowers, in January the amount was only 281.6 billion rubles.
At the same time, the mortgage loan rate increased from an average of 6.65% to 7.86%, and the repayment period averaged 23.7 years compared to 24.1 years in December.
Most of the loans were issued in Moscow, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg and in Tyumen region. At the same time, the number of housing transactions in Moscow in January decreased by 15.3% compared to the first month of last year and turned out to be 35.9% less than in December 2022.
