Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to an emergency in the villages of Sushany and Lyubechan in the Bryansk region, where a group of armed saboteurs took six hostages.

"Today we have committed another terrorist act, another crime. They penetrated into the border territory and opened fire on civilians", - Kommersant quotes Putin as saying.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the incident a terrorist attack.

Recall that on the afternoon of March 2, the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that armed saboteurs had penetrated into the territory of the region from Ukraine.

Then the media reported on the capture of six hostages and fighting on the territory of the region, indicating that the attackers fired at a moving car in the village of Lyubechane in the Klimovsky district, resulting in the death of a local resident, a child was injured. The village of Sushany in the same area was attacked by a drone, after which one of the residential buildings caught fire. The village of Lomakovka of the Starodubsky municipal district, according to the governor, was subjected to mortar fire.

The FSB confirmed the fact of the attack and announced attempts to eliminate the saboteurs.
