"Work is underway to launch the Mir payment system. This will make it easier for Russian tourists to pay for services with a card, buy gifts and souvenirs", - she told Interfax.
She noted that the tourism sector is of great importance for the country's economy, so it is important for the Cuban authorities to create conditions for the development of this direction, including to attract Russian tourists.
Initially, the Cuban authorities promised to launch a Russian payment system by the end of last year. Earlier, the Russian ambassador to Cuba Andrey Guskov told RIA Novosti that preparations for the launch of the Russian payment system in the country are close to completion.
