Two American citizens have been arrested in the United States, who are suspected of violating the sanctions regime and establishing contraband supplies of aviation electronics to Russia.

According to the FBI, the handcuff had to be put on two entrepreneurs from Kansas - 59-year-old Cyril Gregory Buyanovsky and 55-year-old Douglas Robertson. According to the Al Jazeera TV channel, they are also convicted of providing repair services for equipment used in Russian-made aircraft.

US prosecutors claim that the attackers conducted millions of transactions through their firm KanRus Trading Company, starting in 2020.

It is established that Buyanovsky and Robertson received avionics equipment, including a computer processor, from a Russian company for repairs and tried to hide the bill received from the Russians. It also turned out that the violators of the sanctions regime supplied electronics to Russia at the height of the SVO from May to July 2022.

Buyanovsky and Robertson were charged with conspiracy, export of controlled goods without a license, falsification and failure to provide electronic export information to Russia, as well as smuggling of goods contrary to US law.

The two defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for each count of exporting controlled goods without a license, up to 10 years for each count of smuggling and up to five years for each count of conspiracy and falsification of export information. The trial will be widely covered in the Western media.
