The White House spokesman added that such weapons are usually used by the Russian military. Ukraine's capabilities to intercept such missiles are limited, especially if the shelling is conducted by hypersonic missiles. According to John Kirby, hypersonic missiles are, in principle, difficult to intercept.
Earlier, the US authorities promised to provide Ukraine with a battery of Patriot air defense systems. After that, Germany and the Netherlands also agreed to supply these weapons to Ukraine. The Ukrainian military began to be trained in the management of these systems.
The day before, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that Ukraine had received the first batch of Patriot air defense systems and Leopard tanks. Later, the defense ministry denied this information.
