The founders are discussing the sale of their shares to another beneficiary — Andrey Kosogov.

According to The Financial Times, Alfa-Bank is preparing a change of controlling shareholders, and it will not require regulatory approval, a representative of a credit institution told RBC. According to RBC, referring to its source, "such a deal is really being worked out". However, it is too early to talk about the timing. Now the parties will have to go through corporate and legal procedures, the interlocutor added.

Friedman and Aven own 32.9 and 12.4% shares, respectively, in Luxembourg-based ABH Holdings S.A., which controls Alfa-Bank. Kosogov's stake in this structure already amounts to 40.96%, the businessman increased it a year ago by adding shares owned by Herman Khan (27.97%) and Alexey Kuzmichev (16.32%) to his share.

As of August 3, 2021, Luxembourg-based ABH Holdings S.A. controlled Alfa—Bank through two structures - Cyprus-based ABH Financial Limited and Russian AB Holding, follows from the previously published list of beneficiaries of the credit institution on the Central Bank's website (now deleted).

It's worth reminding that at the end of February Alfa-Bank entered the sanctions list of the European Union.
