Russian gas supplies to Spain increased more than 2.5 times in February

According to Enagas data, gas imports from Russia to Spain increased from 2,174 gigawatt-hours (GW.in February of last year, up to 5,465 GWh in 2023, which amounted to 17.2% of the total volume of imported gas. Only Algeria and the United States were ahead of the Russian Federation.

Now the kingdom is positioning itself as a major gas hub capable of resolving the European energy crisis. Since the beginning of the year, more than two dozen countries have acted as gas exporters to Spain.

In January of this year, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrel, said that the EU countries would abandon Russian energy resources by the end of the year. The only exception, in his opinion, may be Hungary, which he explained for political reasons. With these words, the diplomat spoke at the International University in Spain.
