The resolution of the EU Council is published in the "Official Journal of the European Union".

The deceased State Duma deputy Nikolai Petrunin, the editor-in-chief of Komsomolskaya Pravda Nikolai Sungorkin and the deputy governor of the Kherson region Kirill Stremousov are excluded from the list of restrictive measures.

The document says that the decision on restrictions on the corruption of Russian citizens and legal entities should be extended for another six months "due to ongoing actions undermining the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine and threatening them".

The sanctions were extended on March 13. Now it will be effective at least on September 15 and will affect 1,473 individuals and 205 legal entities. Those against whom these measures apply are prohibited from entering the territory of the European Union. Their bank assets are blocked.

Recall that the EU began imposing sanctions against Russian citizens in 2014 in response to the annexation of Crimea to Russia. After Moscow launched a special operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the list of sanctions was significantly increased. Since the beginning of last year, the EU has adopted ten packages of restrictions that are being extended.
