In St. Petersburg, about 30 municipal deputies may fall under the new rule on deprivation of powers for missing meetings. This was announced during a meeting of the city Legislative Assembly by the head of the Committee for Territorial Development of St. Petersburg Natalia Chechina.
"We have more than 30 such deputies. They move, enter and leave Russia. A lot of people participate in rallies, criticize the president from abroad. They are very worried that some historical values for St. Petersburg are being found in the excavations. And at the same time, being in Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, they do not notice, do not take part in actions when they demolish monuments to soldiers who protected us from fascism", - she said.
Earlier, the legislative assembly of St. Petersburg approved in the first reading a law according to which a municipal deputy who does not appear at the workplace for six months will be deprived of his mandate. The norm is aimed at relocating deputies who left the country after the start of their own or against the background of partial mobilization.
It should be noted that the possibility to deprive the mandate for absenteeism in relation to city deputies is already in effect.
