"The issue of countering illegal migration remains significant for the capital. In the reporting period, the number of decisions made by judicial authorities on the expulsion of foreign citizens and stateless persons from the Russian Federation has more than doubled", - Baranov said during a speech in the Moscow City Duma (quoted by Interfax).

According to the head of the department, in 2022, the number of cases of fictitious registration increased by 45% compared to the indicators of 2021. He noted that during the year, for this reason, 396 thousand foreigners were removed from the migration register.

In his speech, Baranov stressed the continuing importance of the issue of illegal use of migrant labor in Moscow. In 2022, 7.5 thousand cases of illegal labor activity and more than 9.5 thousand violations of attracting foreign citizens to work in Russia were detected in the capital.

The head of the metropolitan department said that last year law enforcement officers opened 106 criminal cases under Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — Organization of illegal migration.
