The source of anthrax infection has been identified in Chuvashia

"Samples of environmental objects were taken to determine the source of infection, pathways and transmission factors. According to the results of the epidemiological investigation, the cause of infection was contact with animal raw materials – a butchered carcass of a bull. Disinfection was carried out in the hearth, medical supervision of contact persons was established", - is stated in the message on the website of Rospotrebnadzor for Chuvashia.

Earlier, the Governor of the republic reported two detected cases of anthrax infection. He noted that the patients were hospitalized in moderate severity and their lives are not in danger. No infected people have been identified among those who came into contact with them, but they are all under medical supervision.

Earlier, the Telegram channel Mash reported that those infected were a married couple. According to the source, the husband became infected when he injured his hand while cutting a bull. It is also noted that about 500-600 kg of meat managed to be sold.

"Presumably to gypsies on the highway. Where they migrated to, whether they stayed in the region, and where half a ton of meat with anthrax is now is unknown", - Mash reports.

According to the publication, the infection of livestock occurred through purchased feed, the origin of which is being investigated by the Rosselkhoznadzor.
