The Slovak authorities have agreed to send MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which are in service with the Slovak army.

This is reported by the local newspaper "Novi Chas" with reference to the head of the government of the country Eduard Heger.

The possibility of transferring fighter jets to Ukraine was discussed at a meeting of the defense and security commission of the country's parliament. The Prime Minister of the country announced the approval of supplies after this meeting.

Earlier it was noted that Slovakia plans to send 13 such fighters to Ukraine in total.

Recall that in mid-February, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Kuleba, stated that none of the countries had yet agreed to send fighters to Kiev. At the same time, the countries are not against training the Ukrainian military to control Western-style fighters. In particular, Poland stated this. The Minister then noted that the supply of fighters is extremely important for the counteroffensive. In particular, he spoke about the interest in fighters from the United States, Great Britain, France and Germany, since these countries have the largest fleet of aircraft.

Before that, the European Parliament called for Kiev to supply all types of weapons, including fighter jets. This is necessary in order to "restore full control" over the lost territories, the European Parliament noted.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin made a proposal to transfer decommissioned Hornet fighters to Ukraine. However, later, the country's president Sauli Niinisto noted that this issue was not discussed with anyone. The transfer of fighters to Ukraine in Finland was not considered.
