"Of course, we highly appreciate the efforts of Mr. Erdogan, his peacekeeping activities, his attempts to provide mediation services and his attitude to the development of bilateral Russian-Turkish relations", - Peskov commented on the initiative at the request of journalists (quoted by TASS).
Earlier, the proposal to nominate Erdogan for the Nobel Peace Prize was made by the ex-President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In his opinion, the Turkish president is an outstanding personality and a world-class politician who does a great job to ensure the peaceful life of not only his people, but also all Muslims.
A similar proposal was made by the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Shentop at the end of December. Erdogan's candidacy was also supported by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. The activities of the Turkish leader were also noted by the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, who officially registered the Turkish president for the award.
