The decision was commented on by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

"Russia is extending the deal for 60 days", - the Kremlin spokesman said, responding to a request to comment on Turkey's information about plans to extend the agreement for 120 days.

On the eve of the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova said that the deal was extended for 60 days.

On March 14, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Moscow had not yet received an answer to its proposal to extend the deal for 60 days. Following talks with UN representatives, he said that the Russian Federation does not object to another extension of the "Black Sea initiative" after the expiration of the second term on March 18, but only for 60 days.

The Kremlin called it a "gesture of goodwill" that the Russian side agreed to a 60-day extension of the deal.
