Most often, people of the older generation noted the increased pride in the country. This was reported by 71% of respondents aged 60 and over. Among young people aged 18 to 34, 49% to 54% of respondents said so, the results of the study showed.
According to sociologists, residents of the southern and North Caucasian regions have also become more proud of the country (74% and 75% of respondents, respectively).
23% have become less proud of the country over the past year.
When asked what is the main pride of the country, the survey participants note that its people. This was stated by 14% of respondents. 8% each noted the high level of social solidarity in Russia, the strong-willed qualities of fellow citizens, as well as the country's history and its position in the international arena. Another 7% said they were proud of the president of their country. The same number noted that they were glad that they were born in Russia. 6% of respondents said that they are not proud of anything.
Every second respondent was able to answer the question, which events of the last 10-15 years make him proud. According to 17% of respondents, this is the protection of Donbass, the recognition of these territories, as well as the reunification of Crimea with Russia. The same number also noted that they are proud of the construction of the Crimean Bridge. Among other significant events, the Russians also called the holding of the Olympic Games in Sochi and the World Cup in 2018. Every tenth person replied that over the past 10-15 years there have been no such events that he could be proud of. Almost a third of Russians could not answer this question.
It's worth reminding that in a poll previously published by VTsIOM, 82% of Russians said that they consider Russia a great power.
