Khabarovsk is preparing to host the Russian Boxing Championship, which will be held in the regional center in August this year, the press service of the Khabarovsk Krai government reported.
On the eve of the governor of the region Mikhail Degtyarev met with the leadership of the Directorate of the Far Eastern Boxing Federation and the Boxing Federation of the Khabarovsk Territory to discuss the preparation of the region for the planned All-Russian and international competitions.
It should be noted that more than four thousand people are engaged in boxing in the Khabarovsk Territory. Residents of the region are proud of their fellow countrymen, among whom there are many winners and prize-winners of national and world tournaments. For example, two—time Olympic bronze medalist Andrey Zamkovoy, World Championship bronze medalist Savely Sadoma, Ivan Stupin - the winner of the European Championship, as well as many other rising stars.
Moreover, the competitions held by the Khabarovsk Krai Boxing Federation are known throughout the country.
We are talking, first of all, about the tournament in memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union Konstantin Korotkov and the youth international tournament in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, which is gaining popularity. It is dedicated to the memory of our internationalist soldiers who defended their homeland in Afghanistan and other hot spots.
— And the most important thing is that Khabarovsk is hosting the Russian Boxing Championship this year - for the first time in ten years. In August, the modern sports and entertainment complex in Khabarovsk Platinum Arena will open its doors to the best athletes of the country and their fans. And we will hold these competitions at the highest level," the governor assured.
The optimism of the head of the region is fully justified, because by the end of 2022, the Russian Boxing Federation recognized the Khabarovsk Territory Federation as the best in the country.
During the working meeting, its participants, including Boris Alekseev, Deputy Secretary General of the All-Russian Public Organization "Boxing Federation of Russia" for cooperation with the Far Eastern Federal District, Yevgeny Timofeev, Director of the Far Eastern Boxing Federation, and Sergey Kravchuk, Chairman of the regional Federation, discussed organizational aspects of the upcoming national championship and outlined priority plans.
