Doctors have not confirmed anthrax in patients in the Moscow region

"During laboratory tests of blood samples of two patients admitted to medical institutions in the Moscow region with suspected anthrax, the causative agent of this disease has not been identified", - the press service of the department said.

The department added that both patients had arrived in the Moscow region from Chuvashia the day before.

Cases of human infection with anthrax were previously registered in this region. A local resident bought a bull without documents and vaccinations. The animal was infected with this disease. During the slaughter of the animal, its owner, a neighbor with his wife and another person who helped in the butchering of the carcass became infected. The Investigative Committee for the region opened a criminal case on the fact of infection of people.

Rospotrebnadzor clarified that there is no threat of the spread of anthrax in the country, since this disease is not transmitted from person to person. It can only be infected by contact with a sick animal. It is noted that all the residents of Chuvashia who were infected with anthrax were in contact with are now under the supervision of doctors.
