Suburban Kiev direction of the Moscow railway will be renamed Kaluga

According to TASS, referring to deptrans, there was no initiative to rename the metro, the street, the station and the square of the Kievsky railway station. The authorities explain the innovation by simplifying navigation for passengers. MCD-4 "Kaluga-Nizhny Novgorod" was named after the names of large cities where the railway lines lead (Kiev and Gorky).

"Cities in the nearest regions have been chosen to designate the new diameter, since these are suburban, not domestic rail transportation", - the ministry said.

The Kaluga direction will be used not as a toponym, but as an indication of the direction of trains on this railway radius. The first major city on it is Kaluga. The renaming of the Gorky direction to Nizhny Novgorod is not specified. Belorussko-Savelovsky MCD-1, Kursk-Riga MCD-2, Leningrad-Kazan MCD-3, Yaroslavl-Paveletsky MCD-5 will remain with the same names.

It's worth reminding that the work planned for this year on the reconstruction of the Lobnya station in the Moscow region should be completed by 2025. In addition, since 2013, 259 trains have been updated out of the available 630. Within the framework of the new diameters, a large—scale modernization is planned - more than 170 units by the end of 2025.
