"We are talking about 16 publishers who, according to the Book Chamber, in 2022 released less than 50% of all titles of book publications in the state language. This may indicate a violation of the requirements of the first part of Article 26 of the law "On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language", - Kremen said (quoted by Kommersant).
Since 2021, in accordance with the law that came into force, Ukrainian publishing houses are required to produce at least 50% of books in the Ukrainian language. In case of violation of this requirement, violators of the law face fines, as well as suspension of activities.
