Roskomnadzor may block Eurovision 2023 broadcasting resources for LGBT propaganda

"Russian legislation prohibits propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations in the media and on the Internet. For the distribution of such materials, the law provides for restriction of access to information resources, as well as administrative liability under Article 6.21 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation", - the press service of the RCN explained in response to a question from journalists (quoted by TASS).

Earlier, the Russian government approved changes to the operating procedure of the Unified Register of Prohibited Information of Roskomnadzor, and the list of grounds for inclusion in this list extended to LGBT propaganda, as well as pedophilia propaganda and gender reassignment. A resource or its individual pages can be added to the blocking registry.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be held in May with the final on May 13. Last year, it was won by the Ukrainian hip-hop collective Kalush Orchestra with the composition "Stefania", and the second place was taken by a performer from the UK. Traditionally, the host country of the contest is the country that won the previous year, but for security reasons, the European Broadcasting Union decided to move Eurovision to the UK. Russia is suspended from participating in the competition due to the start of a special operation.
