Ukrainians ask to ban the use of depleted uranium ammunition

The petition appeared on the website of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

The text of the petition (author Gorokhovsky Bogdan Viktorovich) says about the need to ban the use of depleted uranium shells, which the UK promises to deliver to Kiev. The authors of the petition pointed out that the use of such ammunition "is a crime against humanity and the planet, their use is unacceptable and immoral".

"I demand to consider this petition positively and take safe measures to exclude the use of such ammunition by the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the final consideration of the petition", - the document says.

The petition was published the day before. For consideration by the president, it is necessary to collect 25 thousand signatures. The authors still have 92 days to collect the required amount.

The Russian Defense Ministry indicated that the use of depleted uranium ammunition would cause irreparable harm to the health of Ukrainian servicemen and civilians. In addition to infecting its own citizens, this will cause huge economic damage to the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine, primarily crop production and animal husbandry, bringing down any export of agricultural products from the territory of the republic for decades, "if not for centuries".

Recall that British Deputy Defense Minister Annabel Goldie said that the United Kingdom will transfer tanks and armor-piercing ammunition with depleted uranium to Kiev. Experts have stated the danger of using these shells, as they infect the area and cause outbreaks of cancer, including among civilians.
