Torture
This was stated by the Head of the Office of the High Commissioner (OHCHR) UN Volker Turk.

"About half of the interviewed Russian prisoners of war indicated that they had been subjected to torture or ill-treatment (by the AFU). Most of these acts of torture reportedly took place shortly after capture. We have not observed a systematic practice of ill-treatment in places of permanent detention", - Turk said during a speech at the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council.

Last month, the head of the Red Cross, Robert Mardini, during the 3rd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, pointed out the need to ensure access to prisoners of war of the organization's employees. The Russian prisoners complained of severe beatings, broken teeth, broken bones and various bullying such as sleep deprivation for ten days and beatings with a garbage bag on their head. The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Luhansk People's Republic, Victoria Serdyukova, reported that Russian servicemen who were captured in Ukrainian territories were being tortured and bullied for refusing to sing the anthem of Ukraine.
