The rector of the Russian Orthodox Church called the incident a terrorist act and mentioned the situation around the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences on the death of military commander Vladlen Tatrsky, who was killed during a creative meeting in St. Petersburg in the afternoon.

"As a result of the atrocity, military journalist Maxim Fomin, known as Vladlen Tatarsky, was killed, and dozens of people were injured, many of whom are now in serious condition in hospitals," the patriarch said. "In a difficult time of trials, we are called to be united and united in the face of the threat posed by terrorists who seek to sow in our society fear and division. These are the true intentions of the murderer from the beginning and the father of lies (John 8:44), who, wishing only to multiply evil and suffering, directs today both the actions of the atheists who are making attempts these days to seize the heart of Holy Russia — the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, and those who kill civilians in Russian regions".

It's worth reminding that in St. Petersburg on the afternoon of April 2, an explosion occurred in a cafe on Vasilievsky Island, during a meeting with war-correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.

The journalist died on the spot. 25 people were injured. According to the Ministry of Health, six are in serious condition. A criminal case has been opened under the article "Murder".
