The State Duma supported the amendments on the deprivation of citizenship for the repeated discrediting of the army

The amendments affected Article 24 of the draft law ("Termination of citizenship of the Russian Federation due to the commission of a crime").

The State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots for the second reading of the draft law "On Citizenship" supported amendments on deprivation of acquired citizenship for discrediting the army, calls for violation of the territorial integrity of the country and desertion.

The Committee recommended the adoption of amendments, according to which the deprivation of citizenship is provided for "committing actions that pose a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation".

If the document is accepted, the acquired citizenship will be revoked if its holder has committed crimes under Article 280.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation"), 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens"), 338 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Desertion").

In addition, today, on April 4, the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs supported an amendment to the presidential draft law on the deprivation of acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation for creating threats to national security. In addition, it provides for the deprivation of citizenship for public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code, as well as crimes under Article 280.2 of the Criminal Code — Violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
