"This is not discussed in the Kremlin in any way. This issue has been raised repeatedly in different periods. But no decisions have been made", - Peskov said (quoted by Kommersant).
Earlier today it became known that the leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth party, Sergei Mironov, sent a letter to the chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, Valery Zorkin, in which he proposed to lift the moratorium on the imposition and execution of death sentences in the country. To date, Zorkin's reaction to the initiative is unknown.
The return of the death penalty was also supported by the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, after the explosion in a cafe in St. Petersburg. In his opinion, it is advisable to cancel the moratorium "for people like Trepova", who is being accused in the case of the terrorist attack in which war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky died.
Proposals to abolish the death penalty in the Russian Federation are received regularly, but the Kremlin remains unchanged on this issue.
