Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic said that Russian citizens in Belgrade have become "a significant part of the population" and are satisfied with the reception they received.

In March, the number of applications for temporary registration of Russians in Serbia increased to 10 thousand, Vucic said. Only five thousand applications were submitted for a work permit, the share of Russians accounted for 80%.

"There is something in this great misfortune of the Ukrainian and Russian peoples that we can help them, and help ourselves very much. These young people, who came mostly from Russia, made a record in March. We have about ten thousand applications for annual registration of stay, in just one month, more precisely 9,840", - Vucic said on Serbian radio and television.

According to the Agency of the Economic Register, last year the citizens of the Russian Federation opened 1034 legal entities in Serbia. 3,224 individual entrepreneurs from Russia were registered, most of them in the IT sector. The number of Russians who came to the Balkan country last year is estimated at almost two hundred thousand people.

Recall that in early March, Vucic said that he was not ready to swear that Budapest would not impose sanctions against the Russian Federation, since he could not guarantee that the country would be able to resist the pressure of the West and the European Union to the end.
