The list of animals subject to registration and labeling has been approved

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a list of animals that are subject to labeling and accounting. The new rules will come into force on March 1, 2024 and will be valid until March 1, 2030.

There are 12 items in the list: service animals (no later than March 1, 2026), cattle, pigs (registered no later than September 1, 2024), horses (in private farms — no later than March 1, 2025), sheep and goats (no later than September 2026), as well as deer, camels, bees, poultry, fur-bearing animals, rabbits, fish of aquacultural origin (the timing of the start of accounting for each animal species will be different).

In addition to the list of animals, rules for accounting were defined. The new rules are an implementation of the law adopted in June last year, obliging to label farm animals.

In August last year, the government did not support the draft law of the Ministry of Agriculture, which proposes to introduce mandatory registration of all cats and dogs in the country. Then the government stressed that the labeling of pets should be voluntary and carried out free of charge.
