Initiative of the day: Bastrykin proposed to introduce a "weighty tax" on migrant labor

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin proposed to introduce a significant tax for the use of migrant labor. In his opinion, this will motivate employers to hire Russians. He said this in an interview with Interfax.

"In my opinion, it is also necessary to develop a mechanism for economic motivation of entrepreneurs using Russian labor resources, providing for a significant tax for the use of foreign labor", - Bastrykin believes (quoted by Interfax).

He also proposed to create a roadmap for the replacement of migrant workers by Russians "in order to reduce social tension". The Chairman of the ICR considers it necessary to attract Russians to work in regions with a low level of economic development, where there are not enough workers. To do this, he proposed to introduce a shift method and develop a mechanism for moving citizens to work in problem regions.

Bastrykin also called for strengthening control over migration processes in the country, including through genomic registration (DNA testing) for all migrants.
